Happy Halloween Eve, Friends!

I enjoy quoting Isaiah 41:10 during this season, don't you?

This week's devotion is entitled "coded grace."   I will be reading it as soon as this post goes live with a pumpkin spice latte!

Here is this week's scripture:

Prayer Requests:

  • Please pray for Kitty's DIL, Julie, that her heart will change; for SIL, Eric, that he will see some relief for his cervical dystonia; and for her son, Mike, that he will get a job.
  • Carla reminds us that it's not too early to pray for an honest election for all sides running, and that everyone that wants to run can have a fair go at it.
  • Please keep Rita's daughters in your prayers. They are both in graduate school and working full time (one being a full time momma), and are feeling a lot of stress currently.
  • Pray for our country as we're experiencing an invasion on our Southern border.  We don't know who these fighting age men; they have not been vetted.
  • Pray for peace.
  • Pray that God will place hedges of protection around all family members of every reader of this blog.

Until next time...

Blessings!

Good morning, my Beautiful Friends!

Didn't you love this week's devotion?  I know I did!  :D

About thirteen years ago, a graffiti artist here in Birmingham wrote "You Are Beautiful" at several spots around the city.  One of them was painted on the overpass on the Red Mountain Expressway.  People commuting to downtown Birmingham from the southern and eastern suburbs could see it every morning.  It always makes me smile when I see it, and I love that the city did not remove it because most people love it!  You can read more about this story HERE.

I must admit that I really like Ann Voskamp's voice.  I know Ive mentioned it before, but this week's lesson was written exceptionally beautifully!

Here is this week's scripture:

This is from the ESV tranaslation.

We have a PRAISE this week, Prayer Warriors!

Congress elected Mike Johnson as Speaker of the House of Representatives.  We have been praying that God would send us godly leaders, and I think that Mike is just that.  I think it's a miracle, honestly.  I know he's not perfect, and he will make mistakes, but he is a devout Evangelical Christian and a Constitutional attorney.  Let's thank God for not only listening to but answering prayers this weekend.

I will continue our prayer requests on Monday, but please drop any that you may have in the comments section.

GOD IS SO GOOD!

Until next time...

Blessings!

Happy Monday Morning, Friends!

I hope you had a blessed weekend.  We had some gorgeous weather, and I spent as much time outside as I could!

This is the title of this week's devotion:

I have not read it yet, but it sounds interesting!  I will probably read it later on this afternoon.  If you've read it already, no spoilers, please.  I am very intrigued by the title, and I'm looking forward to being surprised by the lesson.

Here's this week's scripture:

Prayer Requests

After devo time, I hope you can get out and enjoy fun fall festivities!

Until next time...

Flowers past their prime on our kitchen counter

Happy Friday, Friends!  What an absolutely *gorgeous* day here in Central Alabama!  After a rainy early morning, the sun broke out, and the skies are the most amazing shade of blue.

What are your thoughts about this week's lesson?  It's humbling to me recognizing Ann Voskamp's humble, sweet, and content spirit.  I enjoyed her examples of seeing "ugliness" in a much more grateful and beautiful light.

This week's scripture:

Prayer Requests:

  • Please pray for Kitty's DIL, Julie, that her heart will change; for SIL, Eric, that he will see some relief for his cervical dystonia; and for her son, Mike, that he will get a job.

  • Pray for peace.
  • Pray that God will place hedges of protection around all family members of every reader of this blog.
  • Praise:  I was able to accomplish and meet all my commitments this week.  Thank-you for your prayers, and I thank God for giving me energy!

Until next time...

Happy Monday, Friends!  How was your weekend?  Our weather has been cloudy, foggy, and rainy, yet we did see the sun (but only sparingly).

I think this week's devotion entitled "ugly grace" will hit a nerve, especially for us lifestyle bloggers.  *giggles*

Here is this week's scripture:

Prayer Requests

  • Please pray for Kitty's DIL, Julie, that her heart will change; for SIL, Eric, that he will see some relief for his cervical dystonia; and for her son, Mike, that he will get a job.
  • Carla reminds us that it's not too early to pray for an honest election for all sides running, and that everyone that wants to run can have a fair go at it.

  • Pray for peace.
  • Pray that God will place hedges of protection around all family members of every reader of this blog.
  • I have a busy week with several obligations.  Please pray that God will give me the stamina I'll need to get everything accomplished.

Have a great week, and do something fall-ish.

Until next time...

Happy Friday, Friends!  How has your week been?  Do you have plans for the weekend?  I attended a Celebration of Life for my friend Pat who passed away in July.  It was such a sweet service, and I am thankful for her lovely family for organizing it.  She was from New Jersey, and was buried there in July.

I am so happy for Kris and the new edition to her family: She has a new precious little grandson!  Kris, I can't tell you how much it meant to me to read about him and see his precious little face this week.  Seeing young people marrying and having children gives me hope!

This week's devotion is entitled "singing grace," and I was a little apprehensive reading the title because I cannot sing.  At all.   ;P  The lesson was not what I expected based on the title :D

Here is this week's scripture:

Do you have any thoughts about the lesson?

Prayer Requests

  • Please pray for Kitty's DIL, Julie, that her heart will change; for SIL, Eric, that he will see some relief for his cervical dystonia; and for her son, Mike, that he will get a job.
  • Carla reminds us that it's not too early to pray for an honest election for all sides running, and that everyone that wants to run can have a fair go at it.
  • Please keep Rita's daughters in your prayers. They are both in graduate school and working full time (one being a full time momma), and are feeling a lot of stress currently.
  • Pray for the victims of the terrorist attack in Israel, and for the entire Middle East.
  • Pray for our country as we're experiencing an invasion on our Southern border.  We don't know who these fighting age men; they have not been vetted.

Have a great weekend, and take the time to be still and listen!

Until next time...

Blessings!

Happy Monday, Friends!  Thank-you for your travel mercies prayers.  We had the best time at my fortieth high school reunion Friday night, and our niece's wedding Saturday night in Louisiana.  The flowers above are part of a centerpiece from her wedding.  The flowers were stunning, almost as beautiful as the bride!

We got home late yesterday, and I have yet to even look to see what this week's devotion is about.  I'm heartbroken over the news about the terrorist attack on Israel.  Please pray for her diligently this week!

I will be on track with the devotion on Friday.  As soon as this post is live, I'm off to make coffee and read it!

Prayer Requests

  • Pray for Kris's daughter Kim as she only has a few days until she gives birth to her first child.  Let's pray for an easy labor and delivery, and a healthy, happy mom and baby!  If the baby isn't born sooner, she will be induced on Tuesday (tomorrow, I think).
  • Pray that the division in our country ends, and that we can truly be one nation under God, and indivisible.
  • Let's continue to pray for our gold star families and our active military.
  • Pray for Israel.
  • Pray for our country as we're experiencing an invasion on our Southern border.  We don't know who these fighting age men are as they have not been vetted.

Until next time...

Happy Friday, Friends!

How did you like this week's devotion?  Did you experience any "cathedral moments" this week?  If so, I'd like to read about it in the comments below.

I want to share with you something that happened last Saturday.  I didn't share it on Monday because I was trying to put it out of my mind.  Trip and I were walking the Westies, and he went inside our local General Store while I stayed outside with the dogs.  We were enjoying looking at the many Halloween decorations and inflatables outside the store.  There were several kids out there, too.  In the distance, I saw two large dogs running toward us.  As they got closer, I recognized that they were pit bulls.  My first thought was for the children, some as young as three, between us and the dogs.  However, the dogs spied our Westies and made a beeline towards us.  They approached, and they were circling us, and our male started after them to protect me and his mom.  They started growling, and the larger brindled pit bull was about to attack when Trip walked out of the store and saw what was going on.  I was screaming, he was yelling, and his approach was enough of a distraction to enable me to pick-up one of the Westies, and Trip picked-up the other.  We quickly walked back to the store, and I was able to get inside.  The pit bulls ran a few feet away to where their owner was, and she put these spiked collars on them (which makes me think that they are problem dogs).  Everyone around the store was yelling at them for not managing their dogs.  The dogs escaped their backyard, and the male millennial owner kept saying: "It wasn't my fault."  The parents outside the store gave him a talking down like you've never heard!

The good news is that no one was bitten, and I know that it was because God protected us all.  We were both shaken-up by the incident, and it took us a surprisingly long time to get the cortisol and adrenaline out of our systems.

I want to thank you for praying for us, and I think it's important to continue to pray for the families who read this blog.  I often pray that God will place a hedge of protection around us and our families.  Let's also pray for those who read our posts and never comment.

Prayer Requests

  • Pray for Kris's daughter Kim as she only has a few days until she gives birth to her first child.  Let's pray for an easy labor and delivery, and a healthy, happy mom and baby!  If the baby isn't born sooner, she will be induced on Tuesday (of next week).
  • Pray that the division in our country ends, and that we can truly be one nation under God, and indivisible.
  • Let's continue to pray for our gold star families and our active military.  This past weekend was gold star family weekend.
  • Rita's sister-in-law and brother-in-law made it home, and both are doing much better!
  • Please also keep Rita's daughters in your prayers. They are both in graduate school and working full time (one being a full time momma), and are feeling a lot of stress currently.
  • Please pray for travel mercies for Shelley, Trip, and me as we travel to Louisiana for our niece's wedding this weekend.

I hope you recognize many "cathedral moments" this weekend!

Until next time...

Blessings,
Ricki Jill

Good Morning, Friends!

I have intentionally not planned much for this week because our weekend will be busy with two very special events!

I have not read this week's devotion yet...I plan on reading it later this morning.  I do like the title: "recognizing grace."  How can we possibly recognize anything if we're too busy to pay attention?  It should be a good one!

Here is the scripture for this week's lesson:

Prayer Requests

  • Pray for Kris's daughter Kim as she only has about another week or so until she gives birth to her first child.  Let's pray for an easy labor and delivery, and a healthy, happy mom and baby!
  • Pray that the division in our country ends, and that we can truly be one nation under God, and indivisible.
  • Let's continue to pray for our gold star families and our active military.  This past weekend was gold star family weekend.
  • Pray for Rita's sister-in-law and brother-in-law who are on a Viking cruise that has been nothing short of disastrous. They both got Covid and were quarantined in their stateroom days 4-9, and last night over the weekend her brother-in-law had a gallbladder flare up, is in hospital somewhere in Italy, and they will miss their flight home! Prayers they can treat with meds and just get them home!
  • Please also keep Rita's daughters in your prayers. They are both in graduate school and working full time (one being a full time momma), and are feeling a lot of stress currently.

Update on Rita's Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law:  They are currently at the Venice airport where they would have come home from two days ago. If nothing else goes wrong, they should be home around midnight tonight.  Pray that they can make it home safely and in as much comfort as possible!  (One of the worst things in the world is to be traveling while sick.  I am definitely keeping them constantly in my prayers!)

Have a blessed week, Friends!
I hope you enjoy this first week of October!

Until next time...

Blessings!
