Happy Memorial Day, Friends!  I'm enjoying coffee very early this morning on our upper porch at Lake Martin.

How has your weekend been so far?  Have you done anything special?

This week's reflection is entitled:  "God So Loved the World.  Do We?"  Yikes!  That's heavy for a holiday week!

Here is a LINK to a lovely prayer to pray for our country and leadership.

Prayer Requests

Today, let's pray a prayer of gratitude for those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom and country.  Let's also continue to pray for our gold star families and our active military, especially Sam and the 157th.

Until next time...

Blessings!

Happy Friday, My Lovelies!  Are you traveling for the long holiday weekend?  I hope you have a few fun outdoor activities, and that the weather cooperates for you.

This week's lesson truly hit home.  I was reading a post on a social media platform about a man who posted this on Facebook:

Jesus died so you could live.

Facebook notified the poster that: "No one else can see your post.  Your speech goes against our Community Standards on hate speech."

Do you think that this would've happened had it been representative of another religion?

If you haven't read the lifeline for this week's reflection, I encourage you to do so and take some time to think about it.

Prayer Requests:

  • Continue to pray for our military that are helping with the situation in Sudan and Africa.  Also, pray for Sam and the 157th.
  • Let's continue to pray for Kitty's son Mike to find a job, and for God to turn her daughter in law's heart to want to spend time with the family.
  • We are being invaded from the south, and we no longer have national sovereignty.  Please pray for God's intervention.  Pray for our republic before it's lost forever.
  • Pray for travel mercies for my sister-in-law and niece.  They're driving up on Friday.  Also, please pray for my eldest daughter.  Her work environment is so toxic I don't know how she stands it.
  • Please pray for Rita's brother-in-law who will have a colonospcopy this week to determine surgical plan for colostomy reversal.

Until next time...

Blessings!

Happy Monday Morning, Friends!  In one week, it will be Memorial Day.  Do you have any plans?  My sister-in-law and niece will be visiting us at Lake Martin.  I'm looking forward to spending some time with them!

This week's reflection is entitled "The Fragrance of Faith."  Here is a little preview:

Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage.
~Matthew 5:13 (MSG)

It's tea for me today!

Happy Friday, My Lovelies!  I hope y'all have had a good week.  Mine has been pretty good, and very productive!

Although I was very productive, I made little time to find "sanctuary" or alone time with God.  This week's reflection was very convicting, and I wish I'd read it earlier in the week rather than later.

Where do you find sanctuary?  I find it in my at home art studio; it's where I study my Bible and pray.

There's a reason why the place for worship in a church is called a sanctuary.  Throughout history fugitives could "claim sanctuary" by retreating to the church's alter, touch it, and claim sanctuary, or protection, from the church.  The church supported them hoping that they would either convert, or if a Christian, get right with God before facing authorities.

Here are a few verses illustrating Jesus's need for sanctuary during his three-year ministry:

After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone.
~Matthew 14:23

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.
~Mark 1:35

They went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.”
~Mark 14:32

One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.  When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles.
~Luke 6:12-13

However, after his brothers had left for the festival, he went also, not publicly, but in secret.
~John 7:10

Where do you find sanctuary?

  • Let's continue to pray for Kitty's son Mike to find a job, and for God to turn her daughter in law's heart to want to spend time with the family.
  • We are being invaded from the south, and we no longer have national sovereignty.  Please pray for God's intervention.  Pray for our republic before it's lost forever.

Happy Monday, Friends!  I can't believe that we're almost halfway through the Month of May!  Last week's Blackberry Winter has quickly morphed into summer:  It's 91 degrees this afternoon in our corner of Central Alabama!

I'm very intrigued about this week's reflection topic of Sanctuary.  I think y'all will enjoy it.

Thanks for being patient with me today as I've had three meetings so far with one late this afternoon.  I thought I could post before the first one, but I was slower getting my act together this morning!  Plus, we've been meeting outside with tree surgeons about the never-ending tree issues in our neighborhood.  I don't like walking in wooded areas this time of the year!

Prayer Requests:

  • From Carla:  Hello, continue to pray for our military that are helping with the situation in Sudan and Africa.
  • Please pray for my health because I've suffered a little setback.

Until next time...

Blessings!

Happy Friday, Friends!   I hope you're having a peaceful morning.  There is only one source for peace:  "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." ~John 14:27

I'm late posting today because I made the mistake of turning on the news this AM.

I want a do-over for my morning!

I hope you enjoyed the lesson about Theophilus this week.  Here is the scripture from the reflection:

You are my friends if you do what I command.  I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
John 15:14-15

Thoughts about your being a friend of God?

Writing this post is making me hungry for breakfast.  ;P
What did you have for breakfast this morning?

Prayer Requests

  • From Carla:  Hello, continue to pray for our military that are helping with the situation in Sudan and Africa.  Also, pray for Sam and the 157th.

Happy Monday Morning, Friends!  How was your weekend?  We've been working very hard in our garden.  We lost gardenias and many camellias during the Christmas freeze, and we've been replacing them and the other shrubs we lost.  It was a beautiful weekend to work outside here in Central Alabama, and I think we (finally) finished the job!

We're starting a new section in This Life We Share this week:  The God of Your Journey.  I have not read the lesson yet, but I love the quote at the beginning of the introduction to the section:

Prayer Requests:

  • From Carla:  Hello, continue to pray for our military that are helping with the situation in Sudan and Africa.  Also, pray for Sam and the 157th.
  • From Kris:  One of our fellow bloggers sweet pup is not doing well so prayers that she will turn the corner with her health. Prayers for a beautiful new week as we enter into May.
  • Praise from me:  We have had the most beautiful weather this past week.  I love this time of year (Blackberry Winter).
  • Let's continue to pray for Kitty's son Mike to find a job, and for God to turn her daughter in law's heart to want to spend time with the family.

Have a great week!

Until next time...

A beautiful heirloom rose from Petals From the Past

Happy Friday, Friends!  I've had the very best week ever!  It has been very busy, and next week will be more of the same.  I suppose I shouldn't worry that there's a mountain of laundry in the laundry room, and that the dust bunnies are multiplying!

I really enjoyed this week's reflection and reading about Jimma.  What an amazing man!  I hope that we all can learn from his example and encourage others like he did.

I have to ask you:  Have you been blessed to have a Jimma in your life?  I so, please tell us about it!

This week's scripture:

The life of mortals is like grass,
    they flourish like a flower of the field;
the wind blows over it and it is gone,
and its place remembers it no more.
But from everlasting to everlasting
the Lord’s love is with those who fear him,
and his righteousness with their children’s children—
with those who keep his covenant
and remember to obey his precepts.

Psalm 103:15-18

Prayer Requests:

  • From Carla:  Hello, continue to pray for our military that are helping with the situation in Sudan and Africa.  Also, pray for Sam and the 157th.
  • From Kris:  One of our fellow bloggers sweet pup is not doing well so prayers that she will turn the corner with her health. Prayers for a beautiful new week as we enter into May.

I'm taking my coffee to go early this morning because I have more fun planned.
I think family and friends are overcompensating this year because last year I had chemo on my birthday.  What a difference a year can make.  Amen!

Until next time...

Blessings!

The peonies in our neighborhood are absolutely stunning!

Happy Monday, Friends!  I hope you've been enjoying beautiful spring flowers and weather in your neighborhood.

This is the theme for this week's lesson...
does this verse encourage or discourage you?

I would like to ask you to send me an email or leave in comments your updated prayer requests or praises you may have!

Have a great week!  Please come back on Friday!

Are you having iced or hot coffee this morning?  We're having hot tea and hot coffee because we're experiencing blackberry winter!

Until next time...

Blessings!
