One Thousand Gifts: Friday, Week Thirty-Seven

Happy Friday, Prayer Warriors!  How was your week?  I feel like I'm finally catching up with things since we've been on three big trips and a couple of little ones so far this year.  I deep cleaned our kitchen on Wednesday, and it felt so good!

This week's devotion is entitled "one-hundred-times-a-day grace."  This one was definitely a stream of consciousness writing, but my big take away is how devout Jews make a point to thank God at least one hundred times a day.  What a lovely tradition; that's one I want to try and have the discipline and inclination to do!

Here is this week's scripture:

I also wanted to share with you the Rembrandt print Ann mentioned that she has hanging in her kitchen:

Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn
Supper at Emmaus or The Pilgrims at Emmaus
oil on mahogany panel
1648
The Louvre

The subject of this painting is Rembrandt's depiction of Christ revealing himself to the pilgrims during the supper at Emmaus.  It's a scene from the New Testament's Gospel of Luke, which tells the story of Christ's intimate repast with two of his disciples, Luke and Cleopas, who have failed to recognize him after his resurrection from the dead (Luke 24:13-35).

Prayer Requests

  • Pray for Kitty's son Mike to get a job. AI has taken away many jobs in his industry.
  • Pray for Kitty's SIL Eric's continued recovery from surgery.  Also pray for her daughter as her responsibilities have increased while Eric recovers.
  • Please continue to pray for our military and military families.
  • Continue to pray for Carla's son Sam and the 157th!
  • Pray for leadership in our country, leaders who will care about America and Americans above global interests.

I'm taking my coffee to go this morning.
We're headed to the lake!

Until next time...

Blessings!
Ricki Jill

  1. If only I would remember to thank God 100 times a day!
Thank you for sharing the painting that’s hung in Ann’s kitchen.
Thank you for including my prayer requests. Eric gets his implant programmed on Monday and prayerfully he will begin to see some improvement.
Happy weekend blessings to all and God bless you.

  2. Thank you for sharing the painting. I love the idea of having that work hanging in a kitchen.
I am studying the secret language of symbolism of Christianity. It is so fascinating. I recently did a tour of a church in Wausau, Wisconsin and studied the stained glass works it has, it was just amazing.

  3. Thank you for sharing that painting, Ricki Jill. I appreciate Kitry's update on Eric too. It was a good weekend here. Nice, sunny and warm, but low humidity and nice breezes. Perfect, actually. Thank you, God!
