Hydrangea spotted in our neighborhood.
Hello, Friends. I hope you've had a blessed week. Mine has been difficult, yet blessed. God has been so good to me! However, I have been so busy that I think I have prayed less this week than I have in a really long time.
:/
It is true that I've had many responsibilities, yet I am wondering if maybe I took on too much this week. Maybe everyone would've been better served if I'd given over more to God.
I usually read each week's lesson several times during the week, and at the very least I read it at the beginning then again very early Friday morning before finishing writing the weekly post. Upon reflection, this quote hit home:
In our secular, self-reliant culture, faithfulness is a challenge.SoulFull, page 96
Yikes! That pretty much sums-up my week, especially my faithfulness concerning prayer. I don't know why sometimes I take on things that God probably doesn't want me to do. Giving it over to God's capable hands isn't a copout: It's usually the smartest option. It is enacting faith.
Although I know I did not pray very much, I was aware of praying the Examen, and mentally going through the steps a couple of days this week. I'm making it my goal to pray more this weekend, and also rest more. And I will pray the Examen.
What about you? Did you try praying the Examen? What are your thoughts about this week's lesson?
We had three Bible verses featured this week. I included an extra translation of Hebrews 1:11.
This is the NIV translation of Hebrews 11:1.
This is the AMP translation of Hebrews 11:1, and I really like it.
Prayer Requests
- Please continue to pray for Kris's MIL. Pray that she will be amenable to having the in-home healthcare help Terry and Kris found for her come into her home and help out.
- Pray for Kitty's grandson Connor as he trains as a corrections officer.
- Pray for Carla that she will be able to effect real and meaningful change in her village. She is serving on committees, and her village needs her conservative leadership!
- PRAISE: Carla is getting a new family member! She's getting a daughter-in-law (Sam proposed to Cate, and she said YES)! Pray for all the pre-wedding planning and counseling for the happy couple.
- Pray for Kitty's son Mike that he can find a job that uses his talents. He is a very talented artist!
- Keep praying for Rita's daughters because they are thriving!
- Please keep Rita's sister who moved to West Virginia in November in prayer as she's healing from knee replacement surgery.
- Please pray for Carla's friend C.M.H who has joined the United States Army. Carla and her family are so proud of him. He will be 23 in June, and he is a dear friend of her boys. He was in their homeschool group. He will leave for basic training at Fort Jackson May 22. He is her son Atticus' best friend. What is interesting about this... Carla's son Sam also did his basic at Fort Jackson.
- Pray for my mother as she settles into her new assisted living home.
- Please pray for our blog friend Jenna Meon. She is currently in rehabilitation for her walking.
- Pray for Rita's neighbor who has a stage four cancer diagnosis.
Please let me know if I forgot anything, and I will update the prayer list ASAP.
I want to apologize because I've been terribly distracted because this is only the second week Mom has been in assisted living, and I've had a lot of things to do getting her settled.
Until next time...
Blessings!

Good Morning everyone. So glad to hear your week was successful RJ with getting your mom settled. I am still struggling with all the care giving I am doing with Terry's mom. We are still struggling to get her to accept a caregiver in her home. At 91 her body is giving out but her mind is sharp so she is strong willed on who can help her. Please say a prayer for me that I can continue to find the strength to give her all the care I can. Today is three more doctor visits which will be a lot on her and I. I am praying God will soften her heart and let this wonderful caregiver we found come into her life to help her. Prayers continue for all. Have a wonderful Friday and great weekend. Love you all. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteRJ and Kris, I am praying for each of you and all that you've taken on. We are doers, and sometimes that ends up kicking us in the rear end when we do too much.
ReplyDeleteWith that, I have a praise in that my sister has been released to go about her business on her own, driving privileges reinstated (officially). She seems to be going into a bit of depression, feeling we may abandon her now that she's moved and her knee is replaced. I just pray she will try to learn how to be the friend she wants everyone to be to her.
I have gone through the Examen, and will revisit that one. Keep the faith, everyone, God does answer in His time. ♥
Hello Friends, I am praying for you Kris and RJ.
ReplyDeleteYay, Rita for the praise report.
Our local government is changing things very quickly. For the past 5 years we have had backyard chickens. We have a lovey coop and run. We have our little hens. :-)
Last Friday we received word the board voted to change the ordinance regarding keeping backyard poultry. The new ordinance has 12 items we have to sign off on to do. I will share a few. It requires us to move our coop and run, and we cannot do that in our yard. We have to pay $100.00 yearly for a permit. (it was free before). We have to sign off that the sheriff, building inspector and public works can come on to our property day or night unannounced to check on our hens.
I shared just a few of the 12 times we had to initial and do.
At this time we gave our hens to my sister who is already set up with chickens in the country.
With the loss of the election, and this new ordinance and other issues happening in our village, the continuing de-fund the police campaign, we are thinking it might be time to move.
We ask for prayer. My heart is broken about our hens, I am thankful they went to a good home.
Carla
P.S.
ReplyDeleteI am starting my next session of PT for my TOS.
I had six weeks of PT and I am getting better. I have another six weeks scheduled.
I am attaching what TOS is below.

I also wanted to say... that with this study I too can relate with how my own connection with God can wax and wane. I continue to pray to grow stronger in my faith and trust with our God.

Hello Bible warrior sisters, i will continue to pray for all of you, and thank you for praying for my requests. We all have so much on our plates. I have done the examen the past through my favorite the Hallow app. Keeping the Faith is our goal. It’s comforting to know that Mother Theresa had some dark periods in her life but she persevered.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend , and God bless each of you.
