One Thousand Gifts: Monday, Week Twenty-Five

Happy Monday, Friends!   I hope you're feeling well.  Kitty, I hope you're staying warm in Texas!  Kris and Carla, y'all are used to the cold, wintry weather, but everything shuts down here in the South with just a trace of snow and/or ice!  In spite of y'all being winter weather experts, Carla has informed me that things are exceedingly bad with the blizzards going on up North!

FYI: We're expecting a winter storm event tonight into Tuesday morning, mostly freezing rain.  I'm going to have an ECHO this morning, then I'll hit the grocery store on my way home.  I think it's headed for you, too, Rita.

This week's lesson is entitled "bridge grace," and I haven't read it yet.  Here in Central Alabama we literally need bridge grace without icing!  This week's scripture is at the top of this post; I liked this graphic a lot, so I decided to post it at there.

Prayer Requests:

  • Kitty asks that we pray that her Grandson Connor and his dad will make amends; Son Mike will find a job; and Son in law Eric will be able to manage his cervical dystonia.
  • Pray that God will keep a hedge of protection around each of our families, especially concerning our health (physical, mental, and spiritual).
  • Thank-you, God, for your constancy in answering our prayers!
  • Pray for unity in our country, and that God will show us mercy and continue to bless us.
  • Carla has a request for her community as crime is increasing.  She also requests that we pray for courage for the citizens of Cameron.
  • Sam is back to his monthly Drill schedule with the Wisconsin National Guard. Prayer request is for strength and wisdom. Longer drill periods have been set for this year.  Pray for the 157th!
  • A group of Wisconsin National Guard will be deploying to Syria. Please continue to pray for our military and military families.
  • Please pray that I get over this cold.  Kris has one, too, so pray that we both can get over them quickly!  (Update:  I'm better, but I still need to improve a little.  Please continue to pray!)
  • Kris also asks that you pray for her BIL.  They just found out that he has to have bypass surgery at the end of this month.  He is Terry's oldest brother, and he's only 68 years old.
  • Pray for my friend Jen's mother Janet who's recovering from two back surgeries since Christmas Eve Eve.  She's in rehab currently.
  • Rita's husband has had a persistent cough for about three weeks.  Pray that he will get better.  Remember her daughters in your prayers as they head into their spring semester of graduate studies while working full-time.  She is particularly concerned about their levels of stress.
  • From Carla: Please pray for the Midwest and Northern States... they are in a blizzard and VERY COLD temps for the weekend and into next week. Their high temps will be 0 degrees and our night lows will be in the NEGATIVES with wind.
  • Pray for their Emergency personal, Highway crews cleaning the roads, and outdoor farm animals.
  • Pray for everyone who will be impacted by Winter Storm Heather.
  • URGENT:  When Kris and Terry returned last night to their condo after their grandson's baptism, a main pipe in the front of their condo building exploded and the water was gushing into the parking lot until the city could get out here to shut the main off.  It has been one huge mess!  Terry, as HOA President, has had to deal with this situation.  Sixteen units have been without water since last night, plus Kris is babysitting her granddaughters tonight.  The cold is a huge factor in fixing this problem.  Plus, Kris has a project involving workers she's had to reschedule.  Please pray that this can be fixed quickly!

Stay warm, y'all!

Until next time...

Blessings!
Ricki Jill

  1. Glad yours and Kris' colds are getting better, Will's cough is mostly gone - praise! And yes, we're getting snow from Heather already, and expecting more through the day and night. Stay safe, everyone. ♥

  2. It is indeed cold here, Ricki Jill, and we had snow! I’ve been inside all day. I did read today’s chapter on Bridge Grace which helps to reinforce my desire to give thanks and praise to Our Heavenly Father. I will be praying for all our prayer family and may you all be safe. God bless each and everyone of you.

  4. Thanks for all the prayers. We are up and have electricity and water again. This is a huge hit for us and very expensive. We are going to have to have a special assessment to replenish our funds. Large hit for all 16 units. Cha Ching Cha Ching. Yikes and right after Christmas. We are beginning to warm up some. Up above freezing. I see other states in worse shape than we are here in Illinois. Prayers for some warmer weather. At least the sunshine was out today. That helped make if feel warmer than 12 degrees. Hugs. Kris
